Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
Emotional Freedom Technique is a method of intervention which uses tapping on acupressure points on the body while utilizing language which helps the individual address the discomfort, sustain or create a healthy foundation, and then shift the emotion to the desired state of being. The idea is that the experience of negative emotions causes distress and discomfort in the body/mind system. This method is used to safely discharge the energy, reorganize the experiential associations in the brain, and allows the client to coach themselves into a more desirable state of mind and body. Gary Craig adapted this method from Roger Callahan’s Thought-Field Therapy.
